Job Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides service to patients in designated care settings, including acute, short and long-term care, by assisting physicians, assessing patients, and treating injuries and ailments. The NP will:
- Obtain a thorough medical history from patients and perform examinations/assessments.
- Analyze and interpret information to develop appropriate diagnoses.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide care.
- Formulate treatment plans and prescribe medications as authorized.
- Maintain complete and detailed records of patients' care plans.
- Provide necessary healthcare referrals and counsel patients and family members on self-management.
- Participate in clinical research studies and incorporate evidence-based practice guidelines into care.
- Maintain knowledge of state regulations for advanced practice provider practices.
Qualifications
Completion of a master’s, postmaster’s, or doctorate from a nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. Licensing prior to August 1, 1995, master's degree in nursing is preferred.
Schedule: M-F, inpatient setting, Hospital (no clinic). Experience preferred; new grads may be considered. CVs should reflect the ability to treat patients in complex settings.
Duties:
- Assist in the management of hospital care for rehabilitation patients.
- Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of complex medical patients.
- Work in an interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care.
- Complete medical progress notes daily for assigned patients.
Team Composition:
The Hospitalist team consists of approximately 60 providers: 55 physicians and 5 APPs. The Rehab team includes Hospitalist physicians, APPs, and nursing staff.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated current competence in patient care or completion of a master’s/post-master’s degree program within the past twelve months.
- Current licensure by the applicable state board of nursing for advanced practice.
- Current DEA permit to prescribe controlled substances.
- Certification as an Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP-BC), (A-GNP), (AGACNP-BC), (ACNPC-AG), Family Nurse Practitioner (NP-C), or (FNP-BC).
- Maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications.
